Job Description

Holy Trinity-Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Birmingham, Alabama is seeking a full time youth director.  Our community is a progressive Orthodox Parish located in the heart of downtown Birmingham.  We are blessed with two wonderful full-time clergy - Fr. Paul Costopoulos and Fr. Micah Hirschy.  As Father Paul moves closer to retirement, we are seeking a full time youth director to assist Fr. Micah and our parent volunteers.

Due to the commitment of dedicated parents, talented clergy, and a supportive Parish Council our Community has established a solid Youth Department. We are seeking someone to build on that foundation with new ideas, energy and consistency. We are all aware of the challenges that our youth and families face. We are seeking someone that will continue to walk alongside them providing interior spiritual growth through: interesting programs, outreach, education and activities.

Job Requirements

The parish youth director must enjoy spending time with young people and must be a responsible adult at least 21 years of age.  The candidate should be a member in good standing in the Orthodox Faith, who regularly partakes of communion and confession; establishing himself/herself as a role model for the youth in all aspects of the Orthodox Christian way of life.  They must understand the importance of ministry in the life of the church and be dedicated to the teaching of the Church in all aspect of his/her life.  A qualified candidate will also have experience in various leadership roles as an officer in church organizations, preferably youth ministries, and must be passionate about and committed to Orthodox youth ministry across a wide range of ages.
