Job Description



Hellenic College in Brookline, MA is seeking a part-time adjunct instructor for the Fall, 2018 semester to teach Management Information Systems. This course is part of the program core requirements for undergraduate students majoring in Management & Leadership. 


Course Description:


This course prepares students to use information technology effectively in the decision-making process.  Students will examine business applications using spreadsheets and databases.  Students will also examine how management information systems are changing and their effect on security and society. 

The four main areas covered include:

1. Why MIS? Examines the definition of MIS and various definitions of information; discuss the importance of collaboration; and how organizations use information systems.

2. Explore various facets of Information Technology including hardware and software, data processing and what is the cloud and the future in organizations

3. Using IS for Competitive Advantage takes what we have learned and describes how this knowledge can be used to gain a competitive advantage by processes, social media and business systems

4. Information Systems Management gives a comprehensive overview at the working of managing information systems including security and business process modeling


Key Responsibilities & Experience:


  • Teaching one 3 credit Management Information Systems course for 2018 Fall semester (brick and mortar format)
  • Experience teaching undergraduate students
  • Hands-on MIS experience working in the public or private sector preferred

Job Requirements


  • Master's degree in related field required; PhD preferred
