Job Description

The Greek Orthodox Archdiocesan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New York City is seeking an Administrative Assistant.

Background

Founded in 1891, the Greek Orthodox Archdiocesan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity is one of the oldest Greek Orthodox congregations in the United States, and is the national Cathedral of the United States of America. In addition to serving its local congregants in New York City, the Cathedral is home to a variety of events of national scope.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Administrative Assistant will report directly to the Office Manager and will assist in the day-to-day operations of the office. We are looking for someone who has a welcoming personality and is self-directed, organized and a flexible team player. This candidate will demonstrate professionalism, the ability to multitask, answer phones, greet members and interact with visitors. They will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, computer expertise with Word, Excel and strong Internet proficiency. The optimal candidate will also be an individual who demonstrates a high level of discretion over confidential matters.

Qualifications

  1. A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent is required.
  2. Prior secretarial or administrative experience with very strong computer skills.
  3. English fluency required. Working knowledge of written and spoken Greek is preferred.
  4. Familiarity with the practices and traditions of the Greek Orthodox Church is preferred.
  5. Professional demeanor and presentation with strong interpersonal skills
  6. Ability to multi-task and handle a fast-paced environment
  7. Possesses the highest level of discretion and maintains confidentiality in handling all tasks
  8. Enthusiastic, team player
  9. Candidates must be able to document that they are citizens of the United States, or that they are otherwise eligible for employment in the United States.

Reporting / Relationships

The Administrative Assistant will report directly to the Office Manager and will assist the Dean of the Cathedral as needed.

Other Details

Compensation: $40,000. Health insurance coverage is available.

Weekly Commitment: Full-time, 9am to 5pm, Monday through Friday. Occasional work may be required outside of normal hours.
