Assistant IT Director
Department: IT Department, Greek Orthodox Archdiocese, NYC
Reports to: Chief Information Officer (CIO)

Annual salary: Full-time $100k - $130k or Part-time $60k-75k.
Position location: Full-time NYC office and in-person; Part-time NYC office and in-person three day/week Monday, Tuesday (or Thursday), and Friday

Job Summary:
The Assistant IT Director works to ensure the smooth daily operations of the Archdiocese and Metropolises (regional offices), support key staff, and support the CIO.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Vendor management, including outsourced help desk, to ensure end user Computing, Data Center, Network, Telecommunications, Conference Room, and Audio Visual (AV) needs are addressed timely.
- Anticipate and research current and emerging organizational technology needs; assist in defining IT standards, whitelisted applications, and overall technology solutions for ministry and operational needs
- Manage core IT applications and support user-facing applications.
- Create and maintain IT documentation, policies, and procedures, ensuring conformance with best practices.
- Design and implement IT security controls; ensure compliance; and maintain operational resilience including BCDR and Data Loss Prevention.
- Generate reports, audit IT assets, and manage hardware lifecycles.
- Administer IT purchasing, purchasing approvals, and vendor relationships.
- Identify opportunities for business process reengineering, data capture, automation, and implement innovative technologies that enhance operational/administrative and ministry functions.
- Oversee ongoing end user education, including Cybersecurity training, for staff.
- Assist in the annual budgeting process to ensure IT Department mandates are performed within budgetary constraints.
- Ensure a high value proposition for IT systems and an elevated level of end user satisfaction with IT systems.
- Manage local and national IT projects from scoping through implementation and ensure assigned projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Work together with the CIO in strategic planning.
Qualifications and Skills:
The ideal candidate must possess excellent communication, leadership, problem-solving, and analytical skills, and must have prior experience working in the IT industry in complex environments (100+ employees for 5+ years) and have managed budgets.
IT Director must effectively communicate and collaborate with leadership and staff across the United States to support strong partnerships between IT and the community, and to ensure that the Information Technology is positioned to meet the current and future needs of the Archdiocese.
Proven experience in IT management or relevant role. 5+ years in a complex IT environment (100+ users and multi-site).
- Excellent leadership and decision-making skills.
- Excellent organizational and strategic planning skills.
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity vulnerabilities and risk management
- Strong experience building IT budgets and negotiating IT Contracts.
- Strong Project management principles and practices.
- Deep understanding of data administration and management processes.
- Strong cross-platform skills (Mac and PC) and a knowledge of current technology trends and IT infrastructure.
- Deep understanding of identity management concepts, SAML, user. provisioning/deprovisioning, and leading IdM products strongly desired.
- Experience in managing cross platform environments including experience with MS Intune, Apple Business Manager, and MDM solutions desired.
- Ability to manage complex IT operations and prioritize changing and competing business needs and projects.
- BSc/BA in Computer Science, IT, or relevant field; MSc/MA a plus
