Director of Finance
Position Summary and Purpose:
The Director of Finance is primarily responsible for supporting the Chief Financial & Administrative Officer (CFAO) to lead, direct, and manage IOCC’s global finance activities. This position oversees IOCC’s accounting, budgeting, reporting, and internal audit functions. This position also provides leadership for the Finance team.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- Finance Strategy Implementation: Collaborates with the CFAO to set long and short-term financial objectives including the annual budget development and monitoring processes.
- Financial Systems Oversight: Identifies and oversees implementation of software solutions and other tools that ensure effective management of IOCC’s fiscal resources.
- Budgeting: Creates and compiles IOCC’s annual budget, and enforces procedures and processes for budget development, forecasting, and reporting to the organization and donors.
- Accounting: Analyzes, verifies, and reports on the organization’s business and financial status in compliance with country laws and donor requirements for HQ, field offices and IOCC Foundation.
- Reporting: Reviews tax filings for government agencies, including Form 990, and financial statements for Board oversight, external financial institutions, external audits, and donors.
- Finance Compliance: Supports CFAO in ensuring IOCC’s financial policies and procedures are compliant with government and donor requirements, and all staff are following IOCC financial policies and procedures.
- Internal Review & Auditing: Oversees internal review processes and procedures of field office financial operations and recommends improvements. Supports CFAO in external audits of IOCC’s financials.
- Leadership: Recruits, hires, trains, coaches, supervises, evaluates, and develops a staff of finance professionals.
- Vendor Oversight: Oversees vendor relationships, including budgeting.
Minimally Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Financial Budgeting and Accounting: Mastery of knowledge and skills in accounting and GAAP principles.
- Interpersonal Skills: Must have strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with a wide variety of stakeholders. Excellent team building and management ability. Ability to delegate and prioritize, mentoring staff to do the same. Exceptional leadership skills. Exceptional communication skills. Ability to be comfortable in different types of settings and ability to work well with a wide range of people.

- Leadership and Supervision: Proven ability to lead, supervise, and coach members of staff in different locations.
- Software Applications: Mastery of knowledge of Microsoft products, including MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook. Mastery of knowledge of financial software applications.
- Analysis and Sound Judgement: Advanced analytical and troubleshooting skills. Ability to make sound judgments. Ability to improve processes, promote excellence, and demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness.
- Languages: Proven ability to write and speak using the English language.
- Communications: Advanced oral and written communication skills using different forms of media. Ability to translate complex concepts to individuals at all levels.
- Influencing and Customer Service Skills: Proven ability to influence using diplomacy skills with key stakeholders. In-depth demonstrated customer service skills.

Minimally Required Education, Experience, and Training:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or a related field, and Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- 10 years of experience, including 5 years of management experience and 5 years of work experience in public accounting
- Work experience with multinational organizations and/or nonprofits (directly or with clients)
Physical Requirements and Working Environment:
- Travel required: approx. 20%
- Uses cellular and desk phone, laptop, or desktop computer; dexterity to operate office equipment.
- Standard office environment; mostly sedentary position; sits talking on the phone for long periods of time.
- May require bending, kneeling, crawling, standing, sitting, lifting up to 20 lbs.
- Infrequent weekend and evening work may be required.
Salary Range
$108,000.00 to $150,000.00
