Executive Producer of Sound and Stage
Department: School of Byzantine Music (SBM), Greek Orthodox Archdiocese
Reports to: Director of SBM Position
Position type: Part-time (8-10 hours/week) Independent Contractor - Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate performance schedules. Some Travel Required.
Hourly rate: $30 per hour not to exceed $12,000 in any single calendar year in the aggregate.

Overview
The School of Byzantine Music (SBM) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Producer to oversee the technical aspects of our outreach programs, including nationwide concerts, regional workshops, studio recordings and equipment management.
The ideal candidate - will have a deep understanding of music production, sound engineering, and live event coordination as well as elaborate knowledge of Byzantine Music theory and the Psaltic Art. This role requires a collaborative individual who can work effectively with students, faculty, and guest artists to ensure high-quality productions that meet the artistic and educational goals of the School of Byzantine Music.
Key Responsibilities
Recording and Production
Oversee all recording sessions, including setup, execution, and postproduction of live and in-studio projects and collaborate with video production companies as needed.
Stage Production
- coordinate technical aspects of live performances, including sound, lighting, and stage setup
- work closely with GOA directors, conductors, and performers to ensure all technical needs are met
- supervise stage set-up and strike procedures, and manage stage crews before, during and after performances
- develop and implement project production schedules, ensuring all project elements are prepared, rehearsed and ready to be executed
- coordinate and communicate with equipment and instrument rental companies
Collaboration and Communication
- with SBM Director to schedule and produce recordings for live concerts, workshops, and projects
- with music distribution companies including Orthodox Market Place, Distrokid, Spotify, Apple Music, Prime Music etc. to distribute final product
- liaise with the SBM Director, faculty, and guest artists to plan and execute production needs
- serve as the primary point of contact for technical inquiries and troubleshooting during events
- foster a collaborative environment that encourages student learning and participation in production activities
- communicate effectively with project related entities to ensure clarity and alignment on production goals
Budget and Administration
- develop and manage budgets for recording projects and live events as deemed necessary by the SBM Director
- maintain accurate financial records and report on expenditures
- assist SBM Director with grant applications and fundraising efforts to support production activities
Compliance - ensure compliance with all safety regulations and protocols during all production activities
Ensure high-quality of sound recording and editing using industry-standard software and equipment, as needed
Maintenance and management of:
- the recorded materials catalog, the archival process and equipment management
- all audio and recording equipment, ensuring it is in good working order
- inventory, order, and replace equipment as necessary, staying within budget constraints
- training of students and faculty on proper use of equipment and provide technical support
New technologies - stay current with new technologies and recommend upgrades to enhance the school’s production capabilities
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Music Production, Sound Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in music production and live event coordination
- Proficiency with digital audio workstations (DAWs), soundboards, and other production equipment.
- Strong technical skills in recording, editing, and sound mixing
- Excellent organizational and project management abilities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Passion for music and a commitment to supporting the educational mission of the SBM
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate or Diploma of Byzantine Music
