Kitchen Manager, Loaves and Fishes

Position Title: Kitchen Manager, Loaves and Fishes - FOCUS Atlanta
Position Type: Part time (15-20 hours / week)
Work Hours: Meal Service: 7:30am- 10:30am, Monday-Friday
Possible additional 5 hours outside of meal service

Organizational Management Reporting: Reports to the FOCUS Atlanta Center Director


Position Summary:

FOCUS North America is searching for a qualified candidate to fill the position of Kitchen Manager for its Loaves and Fishes - FOCUS Atlanta ministry location.

The Kitchen Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily meal preparation and distributions, along with other possible Center related tasks outside of meal service.

Food Preparation and Service Responsibilities:

  • Preparing/cooking for daily morning meal service.
  • Menu planning for each week.
  • Managing food supply and inventory.
  • Receiving and processing food donations.
  • Supervising other volunteer cooks and kitchen helpers.
  • Setting up for daily meal service.
  • Providing guidance to volunteers plating food to ensure all are fed and shown hospitality.
  • Assisting with dishwashing and cleaning of the kitchen.
  • Monitoring kitchen appliances for functionality.

Possible responsibilities outside of meal service:

  • Local Festival attendance to promote the work of the Center and engage supporters.
  • Food delivery and pick up.
  • Sharing the ministry with potential volunteers and donors.

Core Competencies:

  • Experience as lead cook in a commercial style kitchen or catering type environment.
  • Service minded.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Detail-oriented and ability to manage multiple tasks at once are essential.
  • Ability to represent FOCUS at outreach events.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Working Conditions:

  • Must reside in general proximity to St. John the Wonderworker Orthodox Church.
  • Nominal but present security risk working with vulnerable communities.
  • Primary working environment is a combination of inside and outside of the Church.
  • Local travel as needed.
  • Multilingual communities.
