Position Overview:

The Marketing Communications and Public Relations Specialist is responsible for developing, managing, and executing a comprehensive marketing, communications, and public relations strategy that advances HCHC’s mission, enhances its national visibility, and engages key stakeholders, including prospective students, alumni, donors, and the broader Greek Orthodox community. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional writing skills, a high level of energy, flexibility to adapt to changing priorities, and a deep understanding of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Content Creation: Develop, write, and edit high-quality content for various platforms, including press releases, newsletters, brochures, websites, social media, and other promotional materials.
  • Media Relations: Build and maintain relationships with local, regional, and national media outlets. Draft and distribute press releases, manage media inquiries, and coordinate interviews and press coverage.
  • Digital Marketing: Manage and optimize HCHC’s digital presence, including the website, social media channels, and email marketing. Create engaging content to drive online engagement and support recruitment and fundraising efforts.
  • Public Relations: Develop and implement public relations strategies that enhance HCHC’s reputation and visibility. Coordinate events, press conferences, and other public engagements.
  • Brand Management: Ensure consistent messaging and branding across all communication channels and materials, aligning with HCHC’s mission and values.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal departments, faculty, staff, and students to promote HCHC’s programs, events, and achievements. Engage with alumni, donors, and other key stakeholders through targeted communication efforts.
  • Crisis Communications: Assist in developing and executing crisis communication plans and strategies, ensuring effective and timely communication during emergencies or sensitive situations.
  • Event Promotion: Plan, promote, and execute events that support HCHC’s mission, including fundraising events, conferences, and public lectures.
  • Analytics and Reporting: Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of marketing and communication efforts. Provide regular reports and recommendations for improvement to the VP for Institutional Advancement.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field is required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in marketing, communications, or public relations, preferably within higher education or a non-profit setting.
  • Writing Skills: Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with the ability to craft compelling narratives for different audiences.
  • Familiarity with the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese: Knowledge of the Greek Orthodox Church and its traditions is highly preferred.
  • Digital Proficiency: Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms, including social media management, email marketing, content management systems (CMS), and basic graphic design skills.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Flexibility: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and adapting to changing needs.
  • Energy and Enthusiasm: A high level of energy and enthusiasm for HCHC’s mission and the ability to inspire others.

Compensation:

  • Commensurate with experience.
  • This is a full-time salaried position with a benefits package which includes immediate participation in a group healthcare plan, company paid dental, life insurance, short term and long term disability and immediate eligibility to participate in the company’s 403 B retirement plan.

Selection for the position will also require a background check in order to be in compliance with our campus Youth Safety Program.
