Part Time Youth Director

Our parish resides about 30 minutes north of Boston, made up of roughly 300 Greek-American households. We are blessed with many young children and are seeking to hire a part-time youth director to plan and oversee monthly youth events for children of all ages. This person would work closely with our parish priest and parents.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and develop current youth programs offered by Annunciation Woburn, and create new programs as deemed appropriate by the Proistamenos and Parish Council.
  • Preparation and maintenance of the youth ministries calendar and events with office staff.
  • Timely placement of youth ministries events on the annual church calendar, and communicate via Weekly Bulletin and Social Media.
  • Coordination with other religious programming (Sunday School) in collaboration with Proistamenos and Sunday School Director.
  • Enlists volunteers where needed to help coordinate, run/lead Youth ministries programs.
  • Works with Proistamenos to recruit and train youth workers for each Youth ministries group who will assist in planning and coordinating youth programs and activities. 
  • Utilizes available Orthodox Christian resources where available for Youth discussion groups.
  • Maintain social media accounts related to youth ministries.

Job Requirements: 

  • A baptized Orthodox Christian in Good Standing
  • Maintains a love for Christ and His Church
  • Participate in continuous education/seminars/conferences addressing current youth issues
  • The ability to mentor/role model for youth and young adults.
  • Successfully works in a multi-staff setting experience.
  • Ability to work independently in the initiation of programs and the organization of events.
  • Ability to get along well and work productively with others.
  • Ability to speak before the Parish Council and other Parish groups or organizations.
  • Ability to write routine reports, documents, and correspondence.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Ability to lift up to 25lbs.
  • Ability to become First Aid/CPR certified. 
  • Strong social media skills and understands how to effectively use web resources.
  • Minimum 3-year commitment to the Annunciation Woburn Youth Ministries program

Hours:

  • A flexible schedule and ability to work some evenings and weekends is required.
  • The Youth Director is responsible for coordinating, planning, and executing one (1) HOPE event, one (1) JOY event, two (2) GOYA events per month. Estimated 15 hours per month. 
  • The Youth Director is expected to attend Annunciation Woburn for Sunday Divine Liturgy at minimum on the 1st Sunday of each month during which time they would be expected to co-teach one Sunday School class and interact with families. The ideal candidate would attend services on all Sundays and fully commit to Annunciation as their home parish. 

Compensation:

  • Commensurate with the candidate’s experience 

Preferred:

  • Prior experience in working with GOYA, Sunday School of all ages, camps and retreats.
  • Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Religious Studies and/or Education and/or Youth Studies from an accredited 4-year college or university preferred
  • Attain the Hellenic Youth Ministries Certificate within 3 years of hiring.

Selected candidate must agree to a background check at time of job offer and maintain Youth Safety Certification as set forth by the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America. 

The first 90 days serve as a trial period, at which time performance will be reviewed with the candidate.
