Upper Elementary Classroom Teacher

The St. Sophia School is Charlotte's first Orthodox elementary school, providing a unique blend of Traditional, Classical, and Montessori styles of education. The mission of The St. Sophia School is to educate the whole child - academically, culturally, and spiritually - in a warm, structured, community-based environment. At each level, we prioritize the acquisition of critical thinking skills within a traditionally defined foundational knowledge base (mathematics, classic literature, handwriting, geography, history, science, logic).

Students begin each day with morning prayers and hymns, followed by morning exercise. Once a week, one of the priests from the area Greek Orthodox churches comes to teach a religious education class. We are located on the campus of St. Nektarios Greek Orthodox Church, and attend liturgy weekly with the students. We opened our doors in September of 2024 as a K-4 school, and plan to grow to grades K-8 over the next four years. Please see our website for more information.

We are seeking a skilled educator to teach in a small, multi-aged, Classical/Montessori blend classroom. The ideal candidate holds a Master's degree or higher and has 3+ years of experience teaching in a classroom setting. Responsibilities include guiding students through a rigorous, developmentally appropriate curriculum that fosters independent learning, critical thinking, and a love of learning. The candidate will utilize Montessori and Classical methodologies to meet students' individual learning needs, maintain a nurturing environment, and collaborate effectively with colleagues and parents. This role requires strong organizational skills, adaptability, and a commitment to Orthodox education.

Interested candidates should send a resume and cover letter to info@thestsophiaschool.org.
