Greek Culture & Language Teacher
Reports to: Head of Early Childhood and Lower School
Status: Salaried/Exempt
Start Date: July 30, 2025
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Additional time as needed for after-school meetings and events, which typically includes staying until 5:00 p.m. on Tuesdays.
Annunciation Orthodox School (AOS) seeks a devoted Greek Culture & Language Teacher. The ideal candidate will possess a strong command of both the Greek language and culture, and be proficient in employing a variety of engaging pedagogical approaches to foster a love of learning in our students.

Responsibilities:
- Teach all Early Childhood and Lower School Greek Culture and Language classes
- Collaborate closely with the music department on special events and performances (e.g. Teach Greek songs for Christmas performances.)
- Adapt and implement a Greek Culture and Language curriculum that reflects the mission, core values, and Orthodox Christian identity of AOS
- Utilize instructional strategies, activities, and materials that reflect an understanding of various learning styles
- Create lesson plans based on sound, research-based methods of instruction
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, emotional, and spiritual development of lower school students
- Conduct ongoing formal and informal assessment of student achievement
- Implement classroom management techniques that align with the school’s culture
- Establish and maintain open communication with parents through a variety of means, including face-to-face conversations, phone calls, emails, texts, and conferences
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with other members of the school community
- Show proficiency with Google Suite for Education productivity tools
- Integrate technology into the curriculum to strengthen the teaching/learning process
- Participate in school events and community service projects
- Actively engage in a robust assortment of faculty professional development opportunities offered to AOS teachers
- Fulfill other duties as requested
Qualifications:
- Extensive knowledge of Greek culture and history
- Fluent in both Greek and English
- Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred
- Minimum three years teaching experience; Early Childhood and Lower school experience preferred
- Experience using multiple pedagogical strategies to build and assess student skills and knowledge
- Knowledge of child development
- Knowledge of research-based practices for effective lower school instruction
