Youth Director

Position Overview:

The Youth Director will serve as a key leader in the spiritual and community life of St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church by coordinating all Youth Ministries, fostering a vibrant, Christ-centered environment for our youth and families. This individual will also provide liturgical support to the Parish Priest, assist with administrative responsibilities, and actively participate in both weekday and weekend church events.

This role requires a strong Orthodox Christian foundation, a heart for youth ministry, and a collaborative spirit to help support the ongoing growth of our Youth Programs and the broader church community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee all Youth Ministries, working closely with ministry leaders, including but not limited to:
    • Sunday School
    • YAL (Young Adult League)
    • HOPE/JOY
    • Hellenic Dance
    • Greek School
    • Altar Boys
    • Myrrh Bearers
    • Youth Choir
    • Oratorical Festival
    • Little Lambs
    • Retreats, service projects, and fellowship events
  • Assume responsibility as ministry leader of - GOYA (Greek Orthodox Youth of America)
  • Collaborate with the Parish Priest to ensure youth programs align with the spiritual mission of the church.
  • Offer liturgical support as needed.
  • Support and participate in church-wide events, often requiring availability on weekends and weekday evenings.
  • Maintain communication with youth, parents, volunteers, and parish leadership through regular emails, calendars, and social media.
  • Assist with administrative tasks including registration, records, event planning, and budgeting.
  • Recruit, train, and support volunteers and ministry leaders.
  • Foster an inclusive, welcoming environment that encourages youth participation and growth in the faith.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; preferred candidates will be graduates of Hellenic College Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology.
  • Practicing Orthodox Christian in good standing with the Church.
  • Proficiency in Greek is preferred.
  • Experience working with youth or in ministry settings is desirable.
  • Ability to chant and assist in services is preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, technology and leadership skills.
  • Flexibility, initiative, and a strong work ethic are essential.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule of 50 hours a week that includes evenings, weekends, and feast days.

Compensation:

Total annual compensation will range from $60,000 to $80,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
